⭐ THE PERSPECTIVE RATINGS
Overall: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😚 6/5
Chemistry: 🔥5/5

Ick: 🤢 0/5
Originality: 💡 4.5/5
Cuteness: ⭐️ 5/5
Yes, you read that correctly.
6/5.
I really, really liked this one.
When I first saw the title and cover for How to Lose an F-Boy, my immediate reaction was:
Oh my God. Is this going to be a rip-off of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days*?*
I am very happy to say I was WRONG.
Instead, I got something modern, funny, genuine, ridiculously cute, and filled with characters I could actually connect with.
And apparently exactly what I needed.
💛 Meg Bush — Maya
Meg Bush playing Maya was absolutely phenomenal.
She has this ability to be vulnerable, cute, sweet, smart, AND a little feisty all at once without any of it feeling fake.
That's the important part.
It feels genuine.
Maya feels like a real person instead of a collection of rom-com heroine characteristics thrown together because the script says we're supposed to love her.
Meg can make you laugh at her in one scene, feel for her in another, and then have you cheering her on when that little bit of feistiness comes out.
Plus...
She's just freaking adorable.
I said what I said.
🌶️ Cayman Cardiff — Jax
Cayman kind of played himself.
Sweet. Adorable.
But with just enough spice thrown in there to remind everyone that we're dealing with Jax Hunter.
It was FUN.
There was a naturalness to Jax that made him easy to watch, and Cayman and Meg together had the chemistry this kind of movie desperately needs.
You believe they like each other.
You believe they're attracted to each other.
And more importantly, you actually WANT them together.
That shouldn't be a revolutionary concept in romance, but sometimes in verticals...
Well.
Chemistry: 5/5.
I'll leave it there.
P.S. Cayman — I LOVED the shirt at the end. That yellow was AMAZING. 💛
🌼 Brooke Multrum — Ellie
I absolutely adore watching Brooke.
Brooke has somehow mastered the art of playing completely unhinged while still being sweet and kind.
HOW?!
And her facial expressions are honestly some of my favorite parts of watching any movie she's in.
Brooke can make an entire statement without saying a single word.
Sometimes I'm not even watching whoever is talking anymore.
I'm watching Brooke's face in the background.
Because I KNOW something is coming.
She knows exactly how to make an impression without saying a word, and Ellie was another perfect example of it.
💙 Jeff Violet — Greg
Jeff playing best friend Greg was just FUN.
He makes a really good best-friend character—the guy who's there giving advice and helping navigate the insanity happening around him.
Which is particularly entertaining when you know Jeff can turn around and play a fantastic villain somewhere else.
So Jeff...
Thank you for being the friend this time.
You did a fantastic job giving advice instead of destroying people's lives.
We appreciate the break.
😈 Nick Ritacco — Aiden
And last, but absolutely not least...
Nick Ritacco as Aiden.
Well.
There was our little glimpse of evil. 😈
Nick plays a REALLY good fuckboy.
And kind of a mean guy.
Which is exactly what this movie needed from him.
Aiden gives us somebody to dislike, somebody to side-eye, and somebody who makes the rest of the story that much more satisfying.
It was genuinely fun watching Nick lean into that character.
💛 THE AMY MICHELLE PERSPECTIVE
I absolutely loved watching this.
And here's the thing...
I haven't really LOVED anything in the vertical space in a while.
There have been good movies.
There have been performances I've really enjoyed.
There have been individual scenes and characters that I've loved.
But that feeling where I finish something and immediately think:
YES. THIS. THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO WATCH.
I haven't had that in a while.
How to Lose an F-Boy gave it back to me.
Watching a rom-com that is actually funny, genuinely romantic, well done, AND filled with a great cast of characters gives me chills and the warm and fuzzies at the exact same time.
Because this is what I want from verticals.
I want chemistry.
I want characters I care about.
I want cute.
I want funny.
I want something that doesn't make me want to throw my phone because the leads haven't communicated for 47 episodes.
I want to finish watching something and feel GOOD.
And How to Lose an F-Boy did exactly that.
Was it completely original?
No—which is why originality gets a 4.5/5.
But it took a familiar rom-com concept, modernized it, gave it its own personality, and made it feel fresh.
That's how you do it.
And the Ick Rating?
ZERO.
Not one little ick to be found.
That alone deserves some sort of Vertical Dramaland achievement award.
⭐ FINAL VERDICT: 6/5
Yes.
SIX OUT OF FIVE.
The math isn't mathing because I don't care.
Sometimes a movie earns the extra star.
How to Lose an F-Boy did.
Funny. Sweet. Genuine. Romantic. Adorable. Rewatchable.
And most importantly...
It reminded me why I love a really good rom-com. 💛
